This came up a couple weeks ago, and nobody had any suggestions, so I did a little googling. This foundation is national in scope, but based in Massachusetts, so they should have the referrals you need. Whoops- embedded links not working for me - try this: The Gottschall Autism Center

Let me get back to you. I have a friend whose son is autistic and she works with several national agencies that raise money for autism research and awareness. She will know.

Default Just curious

If they got back to you privately with this info...or forgot about this post.

Considering a move possibly to the Acton area (or thereabouts) and would like to have this sort of information ahead of time as well. Any input?

There are several Yahoo groups that are made up of parents of autistic children in Massachusetts. Try SPEDWatch and Commonbonds. Parents there have several recommendations for professionals as well as tons of great info about getting the best school situation for your autistic child.

Also, there are regional autism centers, depending on where you live. I am not terribly familiar with the areas, since we are moving to MA at the end of this month. I have just been setting up all the resources I need and collecting information for when I get there.

I would start with the Mass Department of Health and Human Services and the Mass Department of Education websites.

The key to getting your autistic child the help she needs is research, research, research. I spend hours every week online and on the phone. Best of luck.
