I was wondering where you ended moving to? My family is also relocating to the Boston area and we have decided living on the water in Hingham or Cohasset would be fantastic. We also have 4 children and I want to make sure these towns also offer more than just great water views. I understand the commute to Boston will be terrible but the lure of the water is so appealing. Did you end up in one of these towns or elsewhere? If you are in Hingham or Cohasset I would love you opinion (hopefully, you have made your move and all settled in). We have lived in a variety of places, I am hoping people are friendly and open to newcomers.

Thanks, if you could help offer any advice, I would be most grateful!

Lisa

I would give more consideration to Cohasset. I know it's less convenient to Boston but as an artist and raising kids, I think it's a better fit. There is a wonderful South Shore Art Center in downtown Cohasset that is a mecca for local artists with programs for adults and kids. The South Shore Arts Festival on the Common is fabulous. The beaches are much better than those in Hingham. Schools are terrific. There are some terrific restaurants in town, I like Atlantica and Bernards. The Music Circus has some great shows and the kids shows in the summer are great fun.

There are lots of threads and posts about Hingham and Cohasset in this forum. An archive search will give you an overview.

I recommend spending a day or two in each town hanging out in the town center, around the beach, and driving around the neighborhoods, the library, etc., and observe closely what you see to draw personal conclusions. First impressions can be surprisingly accurate.
