OK - You may remember me posting a few weeks ago about where to buy a house with jobs in Chelmsford and Weston. We've started to realize that Westford may be a viable option for us. My husband is going to do a test commute some time next week. Can anyone advise on the best route?

Easy. To avoid highways, do the following. Open a new window with google maps to see that this is almost a straight line.

1) Hopefully, you'll live close to the Westford/Acton/Carlisle border (27 and 225) because that's where we'll start... if you start on the other side of town, add time to this...

2) Basically head 225 E for 30 feet and take a right... go through Carlisle on West St. Take that through Concord where it turns into Westford St.

3) Take a right on Lowell Rd and go through Monument Sq in Concord, you want to take a right on Heywood and then a left onto Walden St.

4) Keep going past Rt. 2 until you almost hit 117. Turn left at Codman Rd. This will eventually put you onto 117. Take a left.

5) Take a right onto Tower Rd. This will eventually turn into Concord Rd. in Weston and deposit you in the town center.

I used to take this commute. It was fantastic and incredibly scenic and also surprisingly unjammed. It's 25 minutes on most days so it's very doable and a much more attractive alternative to 128.
