We are considering a move to NA and will be commuting to Lynn- need to be there at 9am. How is traffic at that time? Any idea how long to allow for travel?

It sucks plain and simple. This is a one to two lane road with tons of traffic, lights etc and it only get worse the closer you get to lynn.

Salem and North Andover are quite different, so if the move is for the job, but want a similar suburban vibe to NA, look at Danvers. Much closer to Lynn, good neighborhoods, shopping. Proximity to Rte 1, 95, 114, 128. Housing prices probably in line with North Andover.
I routinely travel 114 from Rte 495 at the North Andover/Lawrence line to Rte 1. It's probably less than ten miles and I NEVER can do it in less than a half hour because of the lights, and the numbnuts I'm driving behind, talking on her cell phone.
At that point (Rte 1) you're still probably a good half hour to downtown Lynn.
