Hello,
We are currently home shopping in the above mentioned towns.
We live on the south shore and want to move closer to where we both work.

Anyway, in the town where we live now -my spouse has a license to carry a conceled weapon -for work safety and shooting recreationally in a gun club/shooting range. We've heard that there is a very nice shooting range in N. Attleboro.

To keep it short -in the town where we live now -basically a person applies for the license to carry -which the chief then turns down every first time applicant and instead gives them a license to purchase and transport to shooting ranges, etc. When the license comes up for renewal -he will approve a license to carry. We know all towns are different.

My question is:
Does anyone who had a license to carry in another town have any experience with moving to any of the above towns -and going through the licensing procedure with the police chief in that town?

We're just wondering what to expect.
Thank you.

I would think that your local NRA certified gun instructor would be a wealth of information.

Good luck to you.

Thank you for the replies.
We are already familiar with the gun laws in MA.
What we were wondering was how the police chief in each individual town handles people who were issued a license to carry in another town that are now moving from the issuing town into their territory.
A freind of ours moved from Halifax, MA to Raynnham MA and felt he was given a little bit of a hard time by the Raynham chief. He's is the one who suggested we check out each of the towns we're interested in moving to.
We have thought of talking to someone at the North Attleboro gun club -but haven't really had the time to do that yet.

You might want to post an inquiry here: Massachusetts Laws - Northeastshooters.com

Other than that, probably your best source of information is going to be that shooting range that you mentioned.

As you've said, the brilliant folks we have passing legislation in this state have created a horrible firearms licensing system, and a book full of unneeded other gun laws to further hamstring lawful firearms owners.

MA is one of the few states that is May Issue for concealed carry permits, meaning that even if you meet all the requirements, a chief can chose to not give you one, or can issue on of the totally BS restricted Class A's.

In your case, I think you should be all set as all the towns you listed are showed to issue unrestricted class A's. Heres the Map if you want to check it out,

Guide to gun rights in your Massachusetts town - Northeastshooters.com

Cities/towns in green will generally not give you a hard time obtaining a Class A, in Red it may be difficult or they may issue a restricted. Black means the chiefs are simply refusing to allow people to carry.

And our state reps wonder why the numbers of licensed firearms owners has plummeted, and crime has shot up.
