Does anyone know some cheap say $30-70/night mom and pop style motels in Wareham Mass. area?
I worked as a background extra in Essex MA for Adam Sandler's Grown ups movie, but they are moving to Water Wizz Water park in a couple weeks---in Wareham for some scenes and I may need to stay in a hotel. I dont want to pay more than say $60 or so a night. I would prefer say a cheap but GOOD mom and pop motel - with a basic room, tv, etc. - nothing fancy but a good hotel (not a slummy one) that is say around $40-60 a night. Or cheaper if there is any. If anyone knows of one I would appreciate the info.
if you're interested in being an extra on the Water Wizz scenes call Rob or Megan at RPM casting their website is rpmcasting.com
they are wickid nice and will accomodate you I'm sure especially if you live within say 50 miles or Wareham any direction . You would have to have a couple days off a week or something in the weekdays as they only shoot on weekdays.
They are long days expect at least 10 hours per day , early call times as well like 6:30 am sometimes - some days go 12-14 hours depending on how long the shoot is though you get overtime over 8 hours or it might be 10 I cant remember. Its a lot of fun despite the long days. you get around 80-100 a day plus two free catered meals which are pretty good. You also get up close to the actors ---though you dont acknowledge them unless they acknowledge you first , then its ok, though you should never ask for autographs or try to take pictures on a set. You are there to work, not gawk at the stars. And if you obey the PA's and do a good job you might get good spots for the movie and end up in a big scene you never know. I was standing all week behind Norm MacDonald and family by the Amoskeag Lake Sign near the basketball court. They were shooting a basketball scene at a 4th of July BBQ by the Lakehouse - (they filmed on Chebacco lake in essex off route 22). Apparantly they are leaving the basketball court by Centennial Grove - for the town and the snack shack. They built both for the town and the movie set. They also filmed at Woodmans' in Essex the seafood place so if you go there you'll see it in the movie :-) Anyway If you're interested just go to the RPM casting site and call them and talk to Megan or Rob about getting in for the Water Wizz week in Wareham. They will also be handling Kevin Jame's Zookeeper movie --filming at Frankling Park starting in August-Sept. so you might ask them about that too.
So if anyone knows of any cheap mom and pop motels or maybe even owns one down there. let me know . I need a decent basic hotel but it needs to have a tv, and should be between $30-70 a night 70 ish would be the max ideally 30-60 range
Also they need to accept credit cards if possible.
I could do cash though but would prefer credit
thanks in advance for any assistance

Hi,
There are 3 motels within a mile or 2 of Water Wizz. They are nothing fancy...really.
I think though in the summer you're going to find in hard to find anyplace to stay for $70 and under. Wareham is like the beginning of the Cape, pretty busy in summer time.
Here's the ones right close by.
Silver Lake Motel
Atlantic Motel
Rosewood Motel - best bet at finding room under $70
Hope this helped

Hi,
Sorry,, I have never stayed at the Rosewood Motel so I really can't be much help. I've driven past it a couple thousand times.
Its not bad on the outside or location wise. If its just you by yourself...I bet it would be okay.

Do you by any chance know the dates of when you'll be shooting at the park? I work there and would like to know what week I'm gonna be out of work.

Grown Ups movie
They aren't sure yet. I keep asking but they dont know
--:P ---
We're still shooting in essex Tomorrow though
I'll be back at Chebacco Lake off 22 :-)
dont come there though unless you're an extra through RPM Casting
they have security all over the place
they did film at woodmans though so if you go to woodmans you can see the filming spot there and when they pull out you can go off 22 on Centennial Grove to the lake spot. there's a basketball court and snack shack in the movie they built for the town at the lake. they also refurbished the lake house.
I think it'll be sometime in early-mid august but not sure.
All I know its at a water-park in wareham so I assume Water-wizz
maybe they'll let park employees work and be in the movie like they did with woodmans in essex

I sent an email to rpm asking about extra work for my son, daughter and self at Water Whiz. What do you think we should expect in terms of a response? Is no news bad news? Thanks for your insight!

The Rosewood is pretty dumpy and it's doubtful you'll find anything in that area in your price range considering it's summer at the Cape! If you don't mind a 15-20 minute ride you should check out the Days Inn in Middleboro - you should be able to get a room there for around $60 and they have a free continental breakfast.
