I do live in Springfield, and despite what the people who do not live in Springfield say, it IS a nice city with many nice neighborhoods and lots of great attractions and parks.

The numbers listed above are fairly accurate.

I live there as well and would agree. In this part of western MA you have the best of everything: access to Boston, Hartford, NYC, and any seashore is within a couple hour drive. We have a wonderful symphony and a number of great theaters in the greater Springfield area. And your commute to work is nothing compared to living in a big city (I am from NY).

Good luck to you!

I'm hoping to buy a house soon, so I'm curious too. Is the water for the month or quarter? How about the heat- is it per month for the heating season, then close to 0 for the summer or is that averaged out over 12 months?

Also, the size of house and # of people would help. Thanks!

Please ignore stupid comments like this. There are many great, safe neighborhoods in Spfld. I lived in Boston for years but if you mention the word Boston to someone from the burbs there brain goes right to the ghetto. You'd think somebody from Worcester would know better as most people not from Worc would say the same thing about it there. I'd recommend West Springfield (not part of the City) or Agawam. I've done a ton of work in both and wouldn't hesitate to live in either one.
