Hi! My husband just got a job in Williamstown and we are trying to decide where to live. We have two little girls (8 months & 2.5). We want to be in a family friendly area where we can also meet people. We like being near hiking and a farmers' market. We are moving from Montana and it's very difficult to find information about the area online. We don't want to end up in a town that's too run down. There doesn't seem to be much housing on craigslist but that's the only place we know to look. Any guidance would be really helpful!

Williamstown is nice, but there's not much there except the college. I would guess there is not a lot of housing available, since it is pretty rural. Plenty of small towns around - pleasant but pretty sleepy. The only "run down" areas are probably in North Adams - it is an old mill town with some tired areas, but not a bad place. Any place around there is near hiking.
