Yes

Kahului is Maui's only deep water harbor and therefore the only place on the island where cruise ships can dock. Cruise Port of Maui | Suite101

Smile of the day for me, I thought the title of this thread was "Deep Water Ducks". We read a lot of strange posts here, so my mind accepted the misread as being plausible.

How deep do you want it? Some of the smaller state harbors can't accommodate larger private boats.

I would be very skeptical of this poster. Seen posts from this user in the Washington forum too, asking odd questions like details about Microsoft. Or the other question in this section about what Japan thinks of China. Really, really weird, almost foreign hacker-ish.

My guess is that the OP is going after that $500 prize for the poster who starts the most threads that get a lot of response.

Which is, by the way, a contest with some fair rules, and I am happy to tell you that the prize money is real. So sign up if you haven't already.

I've looked into boat marinas and slips for boats are hard to come by anywhere in Hawaii. That steep-mountain-sticking-up-out-of-the-ocean thing doesn't produce a lot of nice sheltered harbors.

I was in the Luxury Yacht Industry for many years in the 1980's. At that time the Hawaii Islands was lacking deep water docks. I was working out of Ohio & Antigua. Then I started to go up to Alaska for several years and work in the hotel industry.
