There are a lot of lists online of the different farmers markets on the island. I will check them out and sure they all will be better than the produce I bought while I lived in Minnesota. Anyways, it will be fun to see which farmers markets here are the favorites of people who live on Maui, as well as people who visit here on occasion.

As a little bonus for anyone who wants to share; do you have a favorite smoothie recipe you use for produce you purchase at the farmers markets?

There is also a store, I believe, called the Maui Farmer's Market. It's on Lower Honoapialani Road in Honokowai. It is actually a health food store, and has an on-site kitchen which prepares a lot of vegetarian foods to go, and ready to serve. It's extremely popular. We went there for snack foods repeatedly. They make fresh Guacamole, that is da bomb! Worth a visit!

Smoothie recipe... I tend to not be very recipe oriented for smoothies and just wing it. Here is what I do (per person):
- One apple banana
- Half cup of yogurt. We usually use plain low fat yogurt, but if you want a rich smoothie, use plain whole-milk yogurt
- A cup of cut up fruit. We use whatever we have: Kula stawberries, blue berries, pineapple, papaya. My favorite is pineapple and strawberries.
- Unless the fruit is juicy I will add a couple ounces of milk, coconut milk, or orange juice. Or use ice. I don't like ice myself, gives me an ice cream headache. But it needs some liquid in it.
- A teaspoon of honey

Puree it in a blender for 20 seconds or so. Enjoy!

I had to create an app for this a little while back but I didn't get as many farmer's markets as I liked to when I made it. Its free on google play store now, just search for Maui Farmers Market. I made it as part of a test run for the Cleyr android app. maker. Sorry I didn't make it out to Lahaina's farmers market, but that honokowai one, and one down in Launiupoko are the two most known ones.

I like Lipoa St farmer's market which is on Saturday, they have sweet corn under a dollar an ear most of the time, and it sells out fast.
Green Jade Farmer's market in Wailuku has fresh Shiitake mushrooms (from Cali) that come in and is cheaper than anywhere else I can find them.
Tj's Warehouse in Kahului has that alot of farmers come down from haiku/kula to sell their goods themselves.
Noe's Farm up in Kula has purple Chiso leaves which are really hard to get.

I <3 the Kula Country farm's food truck.
