A few years ago I walked this trail, but now there's a locked "no trespassing" gate that doesn't allow me to drive through. What happened?

Swinging bridges trail? It crosses private land and the owner was worried about injuries and law suits so shut down access. Usage of the hike went way up after it was published in a Maui guide book. Previously it was only known by locals, word-of-mouth.
