A lot of people don’t last here but not because people here are unfriendly. Most people are very friendly but their experience is that a huge number of people move here with very unrealistic assumptions about what they’ll earn and the lifestyle it will sustain, and why bother watch that train wreck since they won’t be around long.
That said, you’ll have plenty of others in the same boat who also moved away from all their friends and are seeking new friendships here. While over time most of them will end up leaving, if Maui is right for you and vice versa, you’ll likely be doing the same thing yourself at some point.
