Now that there is a vaccine mandate to eat indoors, many restaurants are going to outdoor only dining to avoid the issue of creating two classes of customer, the annointed and the unannointed. What is ironic about this is that it is becoming more and more evident that the VACCINATED are the real reservoirs of COVID infection and if anything the unvaccinated need protection from the vaccinated.

I hope everyone likes dining in the wind. It's always fun to have your red wine glass blown over and spilled all over you. Also, everyone likes their food to be cold 10 minutes after serving, right?

Everyone?

Everyone under 12 is exempt - and the majority of Maui County residents are vaccinated.

This impacts a minority of people.

The anti-vax crowd can always do take out.

Becoming evident to whom?

Have any actual data to back up that assertion?

We all really hope and are supporting "Flatbread Pizza" to make it thru.... (Maui)

“It was a sad lunch,” Flatbread Co. acting General Manager Heide Hancock said Friday afternoon in Paia. “These mandates are kind of freaking the staff out. They’re wondering if they are going to have their job. Especially in the front of the house if we have to go to takeout only. It’s really hard to see them so anxious. We have a great team here. It really is like family.”

Most of us choose to dine outdoors in Maui. The outside tables are always the first to be taken.

Where is this mighty wind of which you speak?

By Costco now there are two Food Truck dining areas with covered seating, and easy parking.
Lots of choices including my fav Thai food truck.

Technically it's all outside even when you order, so mask optional.

Shaka taco's now has seating outside their food truck in Haiku on Hana Hwy.
There's another Food Truck area with covered seating on Hana Hwy on the way to Haiku. Great smoked meat plate lunches (dinners).
Great Food Trucks in Lowes parking lot including the best burrito's Mexican "La Poblaco" (mother store in Kihei)

Kula upcountry by Longs has a fabulous Food Truck area with lots of variety; from Veg Out, to Stew's Burgers , and Maui Cookies of course.

Lots of choices in Maui for Food trucks.

YMMV

LOL. Where did you eat on Maui, or is this just a trolling post?

Next thing you know, resort guests will be sleeping on the beach in lawn chairs.

Maui Mall just added a whole bunch of umbrella covered outdoor seating for people to eat from Genki Sushi, I Hop or Thailand Cuisine. There's also covered areas with outdoor sofa seating and tables.
