With the influx this weekend of VOG shifting ovto Oahu and Maui I'm curious how Maui is effected. Any particular areas or altitudes more prone to it? How does UpCountry fair at times like these?

From South Kihei we can barely see the silhouette Kaho'olawe in the distance today. When the vog is in forget any ocean view, visibility is very limited. I usually take a Sudafed and don't think about it again.

Yesterday in South Maui it felt muggy and warm, and had the overcast look. I was working in my yard a good part of the day, and didn't get that voggy 'taste' to the air, but it was definitely there.

How much ill-effects does it have on your respiratory system? Does it make asthma worse? How much?

It varies my individual; my wife has respiratory/asthma issues but even on the Big Island it doesn't bother her at all.

I was visiting then & concur -- muggy & overcast How often is this the case on Maui? Last year on the BI, our whole 10 days was low visibility & VOG.
