Exactly. How to determine what is a "hate video?" It's a slippery slope.
YouTube is not the government. They are a corporation exercising their constitutional rights. Right-wing hate speech is bad for business. Most of Americans are peace loving people, they don’t want their kids exposed immoral and unChristian behavior.
Thank God most of us are still sane in this country.
So some companies can decide who to do business with, and others (bakers, pizza makers) can't.
I think SCOTUS has been quite clear on the subject. They all can, aside from official "protected class" status.
You can't not do business with a black person just because they're black, for instance. But if that black person violates your "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policy, you can refuse service.
They can do what they want, but I don't like the precedent being said by a lot of these companies essentially acting as biased publishers while simultaneously holding themselves out as platforms and thereby receiving certain legislative privilege(s)).
I'm disinclined to censor almost anything outside of child pornography and direct incitements to violence, as a rule of thumb. A foreseeable endgame to this 'thought police' nonsense that increasingly pervades social culture is that it will veer quickly into legislation and culminate in actual violence. Conversation or violence is one of the ultimatums we have to understand exists. When you remove the prospect of the former you by necessity leave only room for the latter. There MUST be a distinction between communication and physical force, or chaos will ensue.
Should YouTube be forced to allow videos with full nudity? Or do they have the right not to show them? Asking for a friend
Sure just put them behind an screen where you have to verify you are 18 or older to view them. They already have that age requirement thing on YT for some videos. Not sure why anyone would go to YT to view nude videos when there are TONS of porn video sites I assume that would have that.
Timcast posted another vlog about this. It's go beyond 1984, it's now Fahrenheit-451.
???? As I understand monetization, these people can still post their stuff. YT has just decided not to pay them for their viewer numbers. (A YT channel I follow regularly sometimes loses its monetization for bloody vids (the channel shows veterinary surgery.)
Somehow, I fail to see this as a threat to truth, justice, and the american way.

Until the moment it came closer to our backyard. It reminds me a bit of the last lines of Martin Niemöller's poem: "When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out."

Its a threat in the way that they use Youtube as their main source of income.
However, its a flawed argument on their point, part of the American way is not being a #&$%@$@, and
