Do you think anything could have made Hitler change his plans ?

Same with KJU, he is a madman, is power drunk, and has his own agenda. Trump can meet with him until the cows come home, and Kim will sit there, nod, shake his hand, and as soon as Trump is back on that plane home, Kim is right back to working on his nukes and missiles. He doesn't even wait for Air Force One to leave the tarmac before he is on the air saying the complete opposite of what Trump will say about the meeting.

Kim is laughing his butt off at Trump right now, and Trump is too dumb to realize it, or take any of his advisors suggestions on how to deal with this idiot.

I still say it was great of Trump to at least try. So what if he put Kim on "a pedestal" for a week or two because he hopped off that on his own and back to his old tricks. What if he decided to stay in the world spotlight and began to allow NK and its people to enter the 21st Century? Imagine if by meeting with Trump Kim realized that his death grip on his people should be loosened? Who knows what could have happened but it was a positive that Trump at least tried.

What if instead of Germany in the 1930's as Hitler rose to his terrible power the US was a bigger world influence and FDR had cracked down on Hitlers aspirations with crippling sanctions and the younger generation rose up to stop the eventually suicide of the country before it even got moving?

Isn't Trump doing this exact thing when it comes to Iran?

There are evil dictators in this world like Kim Jong Un and Hassan Rouhani that like to keep their people under their crushing thumb and if Trump can get them to start talking, start moving toward something better it is a win for the world.

It is really only the Trump haters that couldn't see a benefit to meeting with Kim.

Earlier they referred to the meeting of Trump and Kim Jong Un at the DMZ as "infamous" . I think most people saw it as a historic moment when a sitting President shook hands with the leader of NK and actually walked with him into NK. The word "infamous" implies doom and gloom. Is it Trumps fault that Kim lied about halting weapon development? ABC news likes to say so.

How can we take ABC news and their ilk seriously?
It was historic AND infamous. Just because it's historic doesn't mean it's good. Trump was honoring a contemptibly authoritarian ruler, and Trump was so naïve and ignorant that he didn't bother to learn that any promises from Kim would prove unreliable. The word "infamous" doesn't imply doom and gloom; it implies shameful or despicable notoriety. And that's just about right.

It is all about diplomacy and I believe that it is better to reach out a hand to shake then ignore someone even if that person is vile.

There is a saying that one should keep their friends close but their enemies closer. Imagine if Kim started acting up again and Trump could stop him by making a phone call to stop him. In business it is important to have a face to face meeting, to shake hands etc.. but then again if Trump called Kim the Dems would probably want to impeach him for a rumored "intent" of something dire.

I still say that meeting with Kim was a positive for the world even if nothing came of it because the meeting planted a seed that could grow into something positive someday. The media using the word infamous to describe it is like dumping salt on that seed squashing any hope of it sprouting.

When it comes to NK and Kim it is better to take baby steps in diplomacy toward a better future for the world.

I think your point of view, in your first sentence, is valid, and certainly one way to go.

But I think that many people, and many countries, attach so much significance to these things that they see it as confirming legitimacy, equality, and approval. So I think that maybe one idea might be to invite Kim to meet in some place like Switzerland. But I think that, on top of the visit being a mistake, Trump crowing about it so stupidly just made him look like an ignorant dupe - which he was.

EXCLUSIVE! SOURCES SAY ABC NEWS PRESSURING REPORTER TO RESIGN

Quote:
Last month, FTVLive told you that ABC News reporter Matt Gutman has been suspended after he inaccurately speculated in an on-air report that all four of Kobe Bryant’s kids were on board the helicopter that crashed on a hillside in Calabasas, California.

Sources tell FTVLive that ABC suspended Gutman for a month, but word is that some insider ABC’s standards and practices are lobbying to have Gutman resign from the network.

But there is more.

Word is that the network has an investigation underway into the actions of one of the top executives of ABC News. Sources tell FTVLive that an HR is looking into the executive for “allegedly called Gutman right after his error and "coached" him on what to tell legal and standards attorneys, in order to lessen the blow.”

Insiders tell FTVLive that the ABC suits in Burbank want the executive to resign because she protected Gutman at the expense of the reputation of ABC News.
https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/20...rter-to-resign

How funny that ABC is more concerned about a botched report on the death of Kobe Bryant, but don't really give two shirts when it comes to whether or not they are reporting accurate news any other time.

Trump got the bodies of servicemen returned. no other president could get any thing from NK. That alone is a success.

The idea that meeting with trump gives Kim legitimacy, is so laughable. Who on this globe would now think Kim has more legitimacy than before he met with Trump????????????????? That kim has more legitimacy now, ignores reality.

Trump's status as world leader is clearly evident to the entire globe. Euros paid into nato much to putin's dismay. Dumped on Iran. built up the military, Obama dismantled to pre ww2 levels as directed by putin. We have the greatest economy while the rest of the world's is shrinking.

Obama's legacy is secure in his role as the world's all time fool for being played by our enemies. Enemies saw through Obama knowing he was an easy touch because he wanted a 2nd term and would agree to anything that helped him meet that goal.
Whataboutism that doesn't refute r small's point.
