It has been forever and a day since I have been to the casino's. Have some freinds coming in tomorrow night ( 7/5/2010) and we wanted to head to the casino's. I heard Paula Dean's is good?

Kind of looking for lobster / crab / steak on the buffet....any clues?

Haven't been in several years, but after trying them all we gravitated to Gold Strike for the eats.

I never mess with the gambling however. I'm not against it; it's just that I'm opposed to losing. I watched carefully the blackjack tables thinking of trying them sometime, but all I ever saw was mostly the house winning.

Your milage or luck may vary - but I doubt it..

I think Paula Dean's is average at best, the food is decent but the service is horrible IMO. Every time I have been to that Buffet I have had to seek out a staff member to get my water refilled (usually after waiting 10-15 minutes after I have finished my glass of water).

The Horseshoe's Buffet is usually pretty good and good service.

I personally think Gold Strike is one of the worst. Horseshoe has hands down the best buffet, IMO. Paula Deen's is good but it has only "home cooking" on it. Horseshoe has italian, pizza, chinese, home cooking, seafood, etc. They have the mega-seafood buffet on weekend nights, but since it's a holiday weekend they may be doing it more this weekend.

That's what I'm talking about. We ate mostly at Horseshoe and enjoyed the buffet, but decided to try Gold Strike on a friend's recommendation and really liked it.

Btw, it's really for another thread, but if you're interested in betting where you have a serious chance of winning, and you go for great eats too, here's IMO Option "A" - http://www.oaklawn.com/racing. That's following the horses at Oaklawn in Hot Springs.

Try the Reuben Sandwich. Best I've ever had anywhere.

For a place to stay, I prefer the Hotel Arlington. They have some great weekend parties with live entertainment during the racing season.

Btw #2 - here's where you want to eat breakfast in HS - this one is a "must"- http://www.pancakeshop.com/
