I'll believe it when I see it.

Johnny, are you a PR person for Memphis or what?

#1 You'll see it!

#2 It's a good thing we have Johnny giving the reality of positive stats and announcements since so many others' public views in (and especially around) this city are handicapped by lenses of community inferiority.

Before the face of the Pyramid starts to change the other end of Downtown will already be upgraded by Beale St. Landing, the home mooring for the 435 passenger American Queen, world's largest Paddlewheel boat, going out on 3 to 11 night cruises, and bringing several hundred new jobs to town.

Bonds have been issued, the city is now accepting bids for the "seating bowl" demolition, the parking lot has multiple Bass Pro Shop truck trailers and crews are already starting to beautify the grounds outside. Sarcasm

I can see why some think the retail won't work but we'll have to see. I think the store will be a hit though. If you've been to the one in Springfield, you'd understand. I visited it a while back and when I heard we going to a Bass Pro Shop I shrugged it off. When we got there I was pretty shocked at how neat it was. It was more than store.

Those who try to compare the retail component to other retail in the Memphis area are only envisioning a limited track record. The visability which the Pyramid has in the minds of millions make this an easy recognition when the new "Bass Pro at The Pyramid" is promoted in the extended five state region, and creates another attraction for the millions of tourists who already come here, so the potential is greater than just the metro market.

The BPS here in Memphis is probably the worse one in the entire country. I travel alot, and I have never seen a BPS so shabby in a major city. Memphis BPS doesnt even have a restaurant. One of the nicer BPS I have seen, is in Branson. Its right on the riverfront as well. It has eaterys and other retail around it, just as shown in the images here in this thread. As a matter of fact, a few of the images shown in this thread look very similar to area around the Branson BPS.

I think this project will happen, because when you look around the country, this is just another run of the mill project. Things like this are just about EVERYWHERE, Memphis is just late. But, better late than never!
