1. Yia Yia's is a chain of about 4 restaurants. I'm sure in their huge expansion from the original in KC, the quality was somehow lost.

2. The last time I checked, Don Eschelweck owned Paulette's and Three Oaks Grill

3. Of course Memphis is somewhat stuck in a BBQ mentality. Just like NO is in a cajun mentality. BBQ is extremely popular with out-of-towners, as is cajun food in NO. I'm sure if I went to Greece, I'd find a ton of Greek restaurants.

That's an excellent point. Visitors to Memphis don't go there for the French food, they go there for the BBQ. Visitors to New Orleans don't go there for Mexican food, they go there for Cajun food. You don't go to Greece for sushi, you go there for Greek food. Even though these places have other kinds of restaurants and have excellent food of many varieties, that's not what they're famous for. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I recently visited Memphis had a wonderful dining experience at Texas de Brazil. It's a Brazilian steak house downtown that was simply superb. Choice meats, fish and poultry all served with efficient, but not pretentious attention to detail. I'm considering moving to Memphis (not because of Texas de Brazil alone), but whether as a resident or visitor, it a restaurant that I'll definitely patronize again.

Texas de Brazil is fantastic. It's actually a chain restaurant. I've eaten at the one in Chicago and the one in Orlando. I'm not sure where else they have restaurants.

Texas de Brazil also has a Memphis restaurant located next to the Peabody hotel in downtown. For those who've not visited, I think it's worth it...although it is pricey...but still worth it. Treat yourself...you won't soon forget the experience.

Oh yeah, I've eaten at the one here. I meant to say that I've eaten at those two besides the one in Memphis. It's expensive, but if you have it to spare, I'd say it's worth it.

Hmm........I wasn't aware there was a Fox Ridge on G-town Pkwy. The one I'm referring to is on Knight Arnold.

It's in the same complex as Huey's and El Porton, next to King Biscuit. (i think...anyone confirm?)

You're right. It sits off the road, sort of behind Huey's, IIRC.
