That is a pretty nice and quite neighborhood. You should have no problems there. I have been through that neighborhood several times and I always see people walking dogs, kids playing outside, and people working in their yards. There may be nicer areas in Memphis and the metro area with stronger schools and property value, but if your primary concerns are low crime, safety, and good neighbors you will be fine in that neighborhood. The area is also convenient to shopping, dinning, grocery stores, and expressway routes.

I grew up in that neighborhood - my parents moved closer in about 10 years ago. I think the neighborhood is not quite as nice as it used to be, but I think it's still safe. The Y has been totally renovated in the last several years and is really great- a big boon to that area! It was pretty much just an outdoor pool when I was growing up.

Anongmous is correct in his observation that Cordova, as a whole, is slowly declining. Obviously, there are still some nice areas, but the overall vibe has become lower class.

Also, you were pretty spot-on with your observation that Collierville has "cookie-cutter mega-church" feel. I described it this way the other day to someone. The area around historic Collierville is neat though. Not many options there though.

Obviously, these are generalizations, but on the whole, I'd say they are fairly accurate. Good luck with your move!
