I'm looking to buy a new mattress and am wondering where the best places to buy them in the Memphis area? Any ideas and opinions would be helpful.

Thanks

Not in Tn., but I bought the best mattress I've ever owned on-line. I dont know if I'm allowed to post the name, its Ama*on. Its like a therapedic, but a no name brand. I'm sorry I dont know the name off-hand, but if you search over there, you'll know which one by the huge amount of ratings. I only paid around $350 and shipping was included for a queen size. It came vacuum packed, & was ready to use that night. Some people claim they have a slight odor for awhile, but mine didnt at all. My son & dil paid tons more for a department store brand, and both say mine is more comfortable. Good luck with your decision, but I swear this one cant be beat. I'd never pay what the big name brand charges, and cant believe there could be much difference.

I too have an off brand memory foam mattress similar to a Temperpedic, and it is extremely comfortable. I think I paid around $300.00 for a queen size and purchased it from Wal-Mart or Value City. I bought the mattress for one of my guest bedrooms, which was a bad idea since guest tend to stay longer when the bed is too comfortable, LOL. The mattress did have a little smell out of the box, but it wore off in a week or so. I also have a name brand memory foam mattress for my bedroom (which I paid around 2K for) and the only difference between the name brand and off brand mattress is how the feel of the mattress changes with the temperature in the house. When it is cooler in the winter months, the off-brand mattress tends to be harder than the name brand mattress when no one is laying in it. The off brand mattress will get softer as someone lays on it as the bed absorbs their body heat. It is pretty cool because you can feel yourself sinking into the bed and the bed conforming to your body. The name brand mattress stays the same no matter how cold or hot it is in the house.

Online is a good choice as you would probably get the best deal. What we usually do for anything is go into a store and window shop, take note of items we like and compare the prices online. Same goes with the Mattress I would need to get a feel for it first before I buy it.
But if you do choose to go purchase locally just remember most mattresses are marked up significantly and you can always talk it down.

The Mattress Firm of Bartlett runs a tight ship.

Because of bed bugs, I would be worried to buy a mattress online unless if you could get one from a reputable source.

Thats a good point to becareful where you buy, but could happen no matter which you choose. I dont get why it'd be worse online than out of a stores warehouse..?? Bedbugs dont like therapedic mattresses. Guess they dont like the spongy stuff. That was one of the great selling points to me.
