GunnerTHB, you do not have to explain or justify why you are looking into job opportunities in Memphis. There are several areas where an ME can find good job prospects in Memphis as other posters have pointed out in earlier posts. You can find a great job in Memphis and be just as happy (close to home) as you would anywhere else.

I know Mitsubishi was recently looking to retain 90 engineers for their new division HQ & plant currently under-construction. Also, Smith & Nephew was looking for quite a few positions that I believe included engineers for their new global orthopaedics HQ @ Goodlett Farms.

I think he's being genuine and voicing his concerns. I think he was under the impression that I was looking for a full time position, which I forgot to mention in my original post that I am a student still.
