Hi all. I would be soon moving to Memphis in the coming month and I am from India. Would truly appreciate any responses to my queries below. I have read through the other threads, but most of them were pretty older (>3 years).

I will be with my family of spouse+3 yr toddler.

1) Any good economical hotels (<$99 per day) to stay from a walking distance from 1800 Pyramid Place? I understand its near the airport and initially since I wont have a car, I would prefer some place where I could walk to work. And it should be safe!
Is it safe to walk from the hotel to work, as I understand the Airport is in a not-so-good locality (unsafe)

2) How is the public transportation in Memphis? Are the buses safe to use?

3) Any good and more importantly safe residential areas to live near 1800 Pyramid place? They should have a good school district as well!

Any responses would be highly appreciated!

If you are working for Medtronics, there is a Courtyard by Marriott right there. Obviously you are staying there a limited amount of time prior to either renting or buying. That would be ideal for you. That area is mostly corporate. It runs right along I-240 which is the main loop through town. It is an ok part of town, but not one I'd consider taking up permanent residence. For a few weeks or a month it's fine. You have the Millbranch exit off of I-240 which makes things easy to get to and from work once you establish yourself and get a car. Otherwise, MATA runs and you should be ok there.

If you would like to live around others from India, there is a large Indian population in the Collierville area. Safe and good schools from what i understand.
