As nice as the signs are, it doesn't change that ugly concrete plant. It needed to move and hopefully they will find a new place to relocate those signs. This has to improve the downtown skyline.

I just hope they put it back maybe in a different way, but it is part of the Memphis skyline. Or should I say . . . was.

Where else could we put these guys? On the retro parking deck at Sears Crosstown? Or are they too huge? I never saw them in person so I'm unsure of the scale, really.

Someone suggested that the signs be moved to the Elvis Presley Blvd/Brooks Rd exit at I-55. That is not a bad idea. However, I have the feeling that it will be put into storage and left there for decades - kinda like the ending scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I heard Kevin Kane in an interview a while back who said they might put up a new "Memphis" sign on top of the Cook Convention Center, maybe with a new design as well. Sounded like it was just talk though. They're going to put something up though.

Yes that's probably the Jumbotron screen I mentioned.

Cool. Was downtown today and saw that the silo is partially demolished, now.
