It's complete from Millington to Highway 64, but that section from Hwy 64 on to Collierville is no where near completion yet....

I'll DM you the name of an excellent realtor....

Here it is 4 years later and the TN State HWY 385 has had little or no additional progress. A few months ago it was touted as becoming part of the interstate system and becoming a link of the I-69 North/South corridor and taking on the number I-269. I was there a few days ago and noticed all the signs designating the future I-269 signs had been removed. When questioning nearby residents, I was told that the state budget offices had trashed the project for the time being as part of a state budget restructuring.

Just saw in today's news that the remaining section of 385 (Macon Road to Collierville) is scheduled for completion this November!

The State has lowered Memphis and West Tennessee in its list of priorities. Check out the I-69 funding. There was an article in the CA a couple weeks ago where the state suspended funding. Yet, the article stated that the state comped $700 million state funds (read: partly your West Tennessee money, no federal funds) to complete a 840 project in Nashville.

BTW I'm glad that 385 will be completed soon. Great for the region.

385 hasn't been good for the region at all. It's just driven sprawl out further, and it has completely ruined the area around G-town Rd and Winchester, which used to be a very nice area. Our population isn't growing much. We don't need roads to nowhere that encourage people to move that much further out, so that we have to build expensive infrastructure all over again. If the state has all that money to spend, they should spend it where the people already are. If we must gorge ourselves on pork, we have plenty of neighborhoods that could use the money more productively.

I wouldn't call the area around Germantown Rd and Winchester "completely ruined". The retail in that area is doing very well and the neighborhoods are not bad at all. The demographics have shifted a bit, but that area is not bad.

Outside of that, I agree with most of your post.

I think you are incorrect on this. I flew over this highway construction project a few weeks ago and all the bridge work appears done and the initial roadway dirt base is done. The construction of the interchange of I-385 and I-269 at Collierville has started and there is a lot of work being done on the ground area south of Collierville into Mississippi.

I don't mean to start a war here, but I'd like to remind you that 840 was planned in 1986, started in 1991, and completed in 2012. The northern loop idea has been abandoned.

And as it pertains to 385, the article specifically mentions that this is not affected. 385 is what 840 is...a bypass. I-69 is a completely different animal. Much longer, and much more costly.

Maybe you read into the comments differently, but from what I gather from it, the state is putting it on hold until they get dedicated federal funding...because it would tie up a lot of the current budget to and affect projects statewide (possibly even 385). Throwing 840 into the argument is pandering.
