Hi

I have been here for 2 weeks and trying to find a used car.

But both dealers and craiglist are way overpriced. Some times 2 times the price suggested on KBB.

I understand a difference of 5-15 % but double price!!!!

And its not just one case but almost all deals are way too pricy. Can someone please give some advice.

Thanks

Try the north mississippi craigslist. Your best bet will be to find a mom and pop used auto dealer in North Mississippi.

Definitely agree with SippiStateBulldogs. A friend of mine just bought a car from a guy in Conway, Arkansas. So seems like you're looking in the most expensive parts of town for a good cheap car. You should probably be looking at Tipton County, NWMS, east Arkansas.

While Memphis can be higher than some other areas, I doubt many lots are pricing $7k cars at $14k even if you have zero credit and it is a buy here, pay here. Are you looking at the retail prices on KBB?

Well may be not double but way high proced.

I was seeing a used car in craiglist with suggested price by KBB as 4500. The craiglist price was 8200. I called and the guy said that such difference is normal here.

Am checking the dealers now. Hope I get something.

Living here without cars is impossible.

I bought my Cobalt SS from Dobbs Honda on Covington Pike for less than the NADA retail price. Now City Auto and CarMax tend to run high, but they specialize in selling nice vehicles to folks with bad credit.

May want to look at Car Smart off of Elmore. Never bought there, but their prices have always seemed better than most in Memphis.

^Not saying your experience isnt valuable, but you are also talking new, high end vehicles. The OP is asking about used <$10k cars. Not necessarily apples to oranges.
