It's always good news to see a local company scaling nationally! Congratulations to them:

Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken Goes National:

"Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken is going national with a plan to nearly double its footprint during 2015.

There are 10 locations currently open across four states, and eight future restaurants were announced Feb. 18.

Atlanta, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Knoxville, Fort Worth and Kansas City will soon experience the renowned Southern comfort food the restaurant brand has provided for almost 60 years. A location is also being planned for Detroit.

Glad to hear it! The problem will be keeping the quality up. There was a Gus's in Memphis by the Wolfchase that scrimped on spices years ago. I went there twice, and haven't been back. But I visit the others to satisfy my cravings.

Yeah, I had the Collierville location the other day and it was nothing like the Mason, or poplar (east memphis) location. How unfortunate.

The Nashville location just went out of business. We were excited to get a Gus's after hearing so much about it, but weren't very impressed when we ate there. Most of the reviews I saw indicated it wasn't as good as the Memphis locations. I'll have to try the one in Mason or East Memphis sometime when we are in that area.

The downtown location (I believe the first one outside of Mason) has always been good. Atmosphere is much more original than the other new places.

The mason location is practically in a trailer park...Nothing wrong with that of course; but, it's a bit dark and you can see into the pseudo-kitchen from the dining area. This location actually burned down in a grease fire a while back and has been re-built since. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, so I would recommend downtown or east Memphis (the one off poplar and mendenhall).
