Two shootings at the high schools in Memphis in one week. That is scary.

I have no clue. I don't live in TN. Was thinking of moving there though.

Yes, it's unusual. But, Memphis City schools are some of the worst in the country (the county/suburban schools are fine).

Memphis is in TN, but it is unlike any other city. No one living in East TN can relate in any way with Memphis. My heart goes out to the victim's parents. I hope the shooters get all that's coming to them.

It can happen anywhere no place is immune. But a lower population would lower the risk naturally

I am finding TN so "different" It seems to have some very nice cities and then it seems to have some cities that have insane crime for its population. I wonder why?

Well, Memphis was one of the main areas of the country that former slaves migrated to years ago. And, being in the south, it was still heavily reliant on farming (cotton, rice around here) which doesn't pull in the money for individual families like it used to. Thus, the majority of the population here has always been very, very poor and uneducated. And poor tends to also be uneducated, and that leads to crime. And, being a majority black city, the majority was forced to remain uneducated until just 50 or so years ago.

There was a school shooting in Northern Illinois today too. There was a teacher shot by an ex husband in Ohio last week. There was a woman who went into a campus in AL yesterday and killed two people. Sad but true, no where is safe from those who are capable of doing such a thing.

IMHO
i appreciate your explanation of poverty being the root of all crime.
I have heard this explanation b4. I do not agree with your post.
i do not believe that. i have known too many impoverished christians that did not rape or murder. i believe ungodliness is the root of all violent crime.
