We saw an interesting thread on BBQ in Memphis. How about fine dining. Tonight I was to go to the Rendevous but found it was closed for the holidays so we ended up at Circa on Main Street and Gayoso.

I found this an excellent place to eat, a bit pricey $50-60 per, but the food was great and the wine choice was fantastic, not that I know wine, but many choices.

Any other suggestions on fine dining in the city.

Rendevouz is NOT fine dining. You eat with plastic forks and paper napkins.

Circa is nice. Also downtown is Stella, McEwen's on Monroe, Felicia Suzanne, Encore, Chez Phillipe, Capriccio, Gril 83...

Outside of downtown....Jim's Place, Erling Jensen's, Interim....oh there are so many. I'm not as familiar with nondowntown though.

Go to memphisrestaurants.com and I believe you can search for "fine dining."

My husband and I really enjoy Cafe Society for a special dinner. It's in midtown at Poplar and Evergreen. It'a a cozy little place with fabulous food. Jim's Place East is another favorite.

I liked that Indian restaurant before Jallepalli got ill.

We have/have had some great chefs in this city. And they seem to have a nice cooperative spirit among them, at least back when I was in town.

Encore, by the peabody. We had a lovely dinner there, eclectic decor, unique menu, elegant presentation.

Chef Jose Gutierrez - Encore Restaurant and Bar – 150 Peabody Place, Memphis, TN

Great thread, any others?

Hey what about Pete and Sam's? it may not be "fine dining" but that has got to be some of the best food I have had the pleasure to eat. I even have my mother-in-law fed ex some to us every so often. Dont get me wrong the one's listed are great but p&s needs to be added to the list.

Tsunami and Blue Fish are two of our favorites.
We also like Jarretts (get the crustacean cocktail to start), and River Oaks.

We tried The Tennessean in Collierville the other day and it was fabulous. You need to make reservations though.

I like Cafe Society, too. Also LuLu Grille and Paulette's. Felicia Suzanne is superb. And easy distance from FedEx Forum, The Orpheum, etc. Just a short streetcar ride away.
