We are in a life stage where going out isn’t something we do. Homebodies with a lot of medical visits with a. Chronic condition. We do curbside pileup, with we don’t fix it ourselves. Just like the near by grocery and other food options in Plano.

As the market crashes I am considering a move to a cooler climate and lower cost of living area.

Collierville or Piperton or even German town similar to Plano?

My wants are close to great medical specialists, nearby conveniences for daily living like good variety of grocery stores. Good restaurants nearby for take out. Safe matters too.

I know some have a crime concern about Memphis metro but I suspect like any place there are pockets that are very safe

I like diversity and the options a large city has but prefer being in suburbs at this time of my life in retirement. The locations I have lived in most recently (last 40 years) are DFW, Houston and NYC metro,.

Thanks in advance
I used to live in Memphis. I'm from Philly but graduated from the University of Memphis ( Go Tigers). I worked in Germantown and spent lots of time in Collierville and Bartlett. Currently I live in the DFW lol. With that being said I love the suburbs outside of Memphis, the homes are beautiful, the streets are typically tree lined and they have side walks. I also really love side load garages, fell in love with those in college. I don't think those suburbs resemble current Plano maybe Plano a few years ago which may be what you're looking for. It will definitely be cooler in the Winter, Fall and Spring. Summer in Memphis can be oppressive the humidity is high. The Autumn's in the area are beautiful. The trees change colors, the air is actually crisp and sometimes you get an Indian summer which is also incredible. The snow doesn't last long and everything shuts down just like in the DFW. The property taxes are way better and the prices will get better as the market cools of also. The homes used to be so cheap, although they are still cheaper than some places. The suburbs are usually the safest places in the Memphis area. My former boss and her husband moved to Piperton from Collierville years ago, they love it and they're originalyl from Maryland. Wishing you well and blessings on this new adventure in your life.
