I just recently moved back home from Memphis. I rented a house and now I am having trouble getting my deposit back. Has anybody had this problem,if so what did you have to do?

Did you have a written rental aggreement? If so, were the deposit terms discussed?

A rental contract should always discuss the deposit. If it's not in there, you might be out of luck. He said/she said type of thing.

What is the problem? She says you never gave a deposit, you can't find her, she isn't answering your calls, she moved out of the country?

She says she mailed it and now she hasn't. Doesn't feel we gave her enough notice. She has many excuses!

So...she lied about mailing it? Then you'd have a case, if she initially agreed she owes it to you, then she changed her mind. DID you give enough notice? That should be in the contract as well.

Itis not in the contract about giving a notice. We gave her a verbal 25 days the next day a for rent sign went up, and I mailed her a letter as well.

Standard practice for vacating a lease is
30 days with
written notice. That is implicit in leases even if not specified.
Sounds like you're out of luck.
