Hi,

I'm planning to travel through Memphis on a road trip in a few weeks and I'm looking for a hotel. I don't want to end up in a sketchy area, so where should I target or avoid?

My priorities are safety and proximity to good evening entertainment and bbq. It would be neat to walk to dinner and a couple of clubs.

I appreciate your input!

Peabody downtown or Hilton off Polar would be safest with excellent locations.

The Peabody is in a great location, but not a bargain. Definitely look downtown.

There are many safe places to stay, but since you are talking about walking to clubs, you eliminate most of them.

Ditto Susano!
We liked the Hampton Inn ($189/night).
Safe and very close walk to bars/restaurants/mall.
