I'll be coming to Memphis during Elvis Week along with my sister. She's the Elvis fan, I'm not. So, while she's doing her Elvis Conventions, etc, I'll be touring Memphis.

I love used book shoppes, so if anyone can recommend their favorites, it'd be appreciated.

blessings, Shen

Default Am new here myself but...

I am new to Memphis and haven't been to the place yet, but there is a used book store called Book Traders at Quince and Ridgeway southeast of the I240 loop. As a matter of fact, was going to go there today and ran out of time. Dagnab it!

There is also something called Burkes books on Cooper St.

Anyone know if either of these is any good? Or do you have other suggestions?

Not really a used book store, but I love to go to BoJo's Antiques on Summer Ave. They have a lot of book stalls on the second floor. Lots of old, interesting books. I could spend an entire day there.
The main library on Poplar also has a store, next to their coffee shop. It's a fun way to kill an hour or two.

All those suggestions sound great! And the ones in the antiques mall - oooohhh!!! Doubly great! I love antiques shopping and used book shopping.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Yes, Burkes Books. Where John Grisham used to come and do signings. It used to be on Poplar but recently moved to a new location in Cooper Young.

Burkes is a genuine bookstore.

Not to be confused with those places that look like bookstores but are really stores with books.

When my kids were in high school there were some assigned books that were sold out all over, partly because my kids would fail to let me know that they needed an assigned book like tomorrow or the next day.

I know from experience that Burkes can find the unfindable and have it this afternoon.
