Deer hunting (archery) most of all! Cool weather and I agree about not having to mow the grass! I figure one more mow and I'll be done for the year.

There is a phonomena that happens here that I've rarely felt anywhere else. It's when you have a hot sun and a chill on the breeze. That combination must be what it's like in heaven

My favorite thing is that there IS an autumn. Many cities (like New Orleans) in the South go from summer to winter. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200.

I think the best thing about autumn is that planting season is almost over and I don't have to deal with farmers driving their huge tractors in the road during my morning commute from Munford into Memphis.

Leaf change here is mostly golds, browns and deep reds, with an occasional spectacular showing here or there. It's pretty, but if you are used to autumn in the more northern parts of the country you will find it much more subtle here.
Agreed, the best thing about fall in Memphis is seeing the end of 90+ degree weather for the year.

Agreed. Here in Jacksonville, FL, we have two seasons: warm and hot. That's a mild exaggeration, but not much.

What I miss about Memphis autumns are the leaves, the cool (not cold) weather, and fishing. Fall fishing really turns on. My dad and I used to go to Poplar Tree Lake in Shelby Forest during the fall, and we'd tear the bass up!
