As much as I'd like most of the stores and businesses that have been listed to come to Memphis, the sad truth is companies are reluctant to open any of their businesses here because Memphis is such a economically poor and culturally undiverse market. Have you ever noticed how these days, if they even decide to open locations in Tennessee, places like Chipotle, Dave and Buster's, the Cheesecake Factory, Nordstorm's, etc. will open in Nashville but not Memphis? Memphis has become so poor, backwoods, and unprogressive that stores, restaurants, and even concerts that would have came to Memphis 10 or 15 years ago go straight to Nashville now and don't even bother considering opening in Memphis. It's just a sad truth...

I'd love to have an IKEA. I was so disappointed when I realized how much shipping costs to order through their website...if you can order the product you want that is. They don't ship some of their stuff.

I wrote them once to request they build a store closer than Atlanta. They replied...it amounted to "yeah, we don't really care."

I'm a fan of independent stores. Since I moved here, I feel like I'm in the Land of the Chains. That said, I would love a Trader Joe's, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Esprit and H&M.
