Not your typical thread asking your opinion of the "best" restaurant, but your "favorite" locally owned eatery (I always like to support the locals as much as possible). Not necessarily the place with the absolute best food (although it may be!), but just the kind of place where you can always depend on good food, good service, pleasant atmosphere.....the kind of place that you always leave feeling as if you had a nice time and a good meal at a fair price. The kind of place you'll go to at the end of a bad week knowing that it'll make you feel better

My "go to" places:

Fresh Slices in Cordova
Bolla Pasta on G'Town Pky
Half Shell on Mendenhall
Side Car Cafe on Whitten Rd

What are yours?

I really like Cafe Ole at Cooper and Young, althought the service can be spotty!

The woman who owns the Automatic Slim's, Molly Fontaine, do, and Beauty Shop restaurants. Very, very unique and ecclectic places.

I love the Bluff City Bayou downtown on Madison. It's a little pricey for lunch, but the food is amazing, and it's right by school for me so I find myself eating there quite a bit.

Hmm.... I have so many favorites! I love the local owned places, they are always so much more inviting than your typical chain!
I love Fino Villa (Italian) in Collierville, of course I love Grisanti's - all of the brothers restaurants! Gus's is out here as well (now in collierville, but not the same as the old Gus's) - yum if you want some great chicken! And of course, if you are from around this area, you know Gus's Chicken! Corky's is a well known deal, but not my favorite. Redevous is better imho. I also love Washington Street Rest. (also in Collierville - hidden behind the square) I used to love to go to Buntyn's but guess it is a long past thing : ( Pete & Sam's is the absolute best in the city for old time Italian! I also like YaYa's, but not sure it is local. So, some of my faves : ) Joe - I too love the half shell - only the one on Mendenhall though - Winchester area - not so great - definitely not the same at all!

I like the beer tasting dinners at Fino Villa.
We go to Green Bamboo often, they let me customize my orders.
Asian Palace (G'town) I like their duck.
Because we do quite a few get together dinners, we go to Chow Time, Grand Buffet (G'town), and we try to hit the new restaurants.
Don't get downtown often, BB Kings (when a specific Blues Band comes in) We like the steak and their cabbage is unique. For a carnivors dream, we like Texas De Brazil.

Although it's a very small franchise, a local family owns Crepe Maker, they are in Carriage Crossing Collierville, and at Peabody Place. Excellent, healthy fast food for lunch, dinner or dessert, with lots of vegetarian options.

I know it sounds crazy, but I love Pancho's. I would take Pancho's any day over taco smell.
