Hi everybody,

I need your help. I just landed a job in Cordova, TN and moving from a small town in Alabama. I'm a female, a fresh out of college grad and I'm looking for SAFE and affordable appartments. IF Cordova is not the best place to live then I'm willing to drive the distance to my work place. I need some recomendations on nice apartments and safe places in or around the Cordova area. Thanks!

Cordova is perfectly fine if you are renting an apartment. it's a very crowded area of Memphis (it is NOT a suburb, it's almost all Memphis city or a small part is still considered unincorporated land), but it has all the amenities you will need. If you are working in the area, it would make sense to rent there.

I can't think of any complexes that are unsafe or that I would avoid. The area is fine.

Lots of relatively new apartments in Cordova - some right on Germantown Parkway, some just a block or two away. You'll like living here. Lots of traffic on Germantown Parkway, but the street was built to accommodate it (3 lanes each direction, 50 MPH speed limit, somewhat limited number of curb cuts to parking lots). All the shopping and restaurants you'll ever need right around the corner. About the only negative is that there's not really any nightlife close by. You'd think that with that many people living out here there would be a few good nightclubs around!

I live at the Reserve at Dexter Lake -- nice apartments, but what's your idea of "affordable"? What's your price range?

I lived at Colonial Grand at Shelby Farms. A bit expensive, but the apartments are among the nicest in Memphis. And you can walk to Shelby Farms, which is cool, too.

Stay away from the apartments that are at the intersection of Germantown Parkway and Walnut Grove. I forget the name of them, but lots of burglaries and carjacking in the past year and a half. I'd look for apartments in Bartlett or Arlington (if there are any).
