We are considering moving from NY and are looking for a place to live that has the following:

1. availability for autism services for our 5 year old (willing to pay privately if no state resources but are concerned about number of providers/therapists especially ABA trained teachers)

2. close proximity to a good neurologist & allergist

3. more affordable housing than the LI area where we currently live and pay ridiculous taxes

4. family oriented community

We would like to live where it's a little more open in terms of land, possibly a farmette.

Any suggestions???

Thanks!

Hi!!!!!!! I know of an allergist I used to use...

It's near the Carrefour @ Kirby/Poplar. E. Memphis/Germantown would be good.

Thanks for the link, I emailed Laura last week and left a message yesterday.

Hopefully I'll hear back soon but I would imagine she is very busy.

If we come to visit I hope to visit their facility. Anyone have any other facilities they might suggest we explore?

Thanks..

For us there is a combination of factors that will affect our decision.

Cost of living is a big one but availability of services also tops the list.

We saw that U of M has a BCBA program and thought that perhaps we could hire students to help us as well.

Has anyone tried that approach?
