Hello All,

I'll be relocating from Chicago to Memphis at the end of the month for a new job and I'm looking for an apartment to rent

I'm a 24 year old single male who enjoys the nightlife/bar scene that a city has to offer. I'd like to live in an area with other post-college 20-somethings, young professionals. People have told me to look in the Midtown/Cooper Young area. I'd be looking for a 2 bedroom apartment around the the ~800/mo price range. Is that doable for the area?

I'm a bit concerned with the crime rate in Memphis. Yes, I know Chicago is much worse, but it is very isolated to certain areas where in Memphis it seems that crime is dispersed pretty randomly. How does the Midtown/Cooper Young area play out?

Thanks for all the help.

I'm a 24 year old who moved here for school, and I love Midtown. There are some shady areas, but 800 for a 2 bedroom is definitely doable. I'm paying 525 for a one bedroom, but my boyfriend pays like 565 for a 2 just a couple blocks away from me. I've had no problems with crime or even shady people...PM me or let me know an address and I'll tell you what I know!

Cooper Young does have it's fair share of crime, due to the area directly south being very bad. Stay to the north part of the area, close to Cooper. Lots of young people there, so it's a great area. Just be wary.
