HI!
My job is transfering me to TN in a little less than 2 months and I am trying to find a great place to live. I hear Germantown is pretty safe and some parts of Memphis...I am a 29 yo married female..no kids, no pets. I am origianally from Atlanta, GA and am looking for a decent suburb area of some sort - safe, friendly, fun, etc.
I know this is a shot in the dark but if anyone knows of any luxury apartments in the Germantown area, Memphis area, or just general information as a whole on these areas---that would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Both of these places have caught my eye but I am not sure where they are - safe? not so safe?

Stay away from the Bristol. It has nothing to do with safety, it is the management. At least that's what I got from the reviews online. Typical for a place like this. Ove-hyped developement with horrible management. If you're looking for apartments you can start at Germantown or East Memphis based on what you posted. Not bad areas at all and safe. But I would also give Mud Island a look or Downtown in general for that matter. Unless you want a specific location. Also, don't think someone your age would like the Westbury Apartments.

Yeah, the Westbury is near where I live. It is more of a family complex. There's nothing wrong with it though. But based on it's location, I think it is a bit dull IMO. That's just me though. Sorry, I don't know the name of certain complexes. At your age I would also look into Mud Island downtown. You can look into East Memphis as well. Also, checkout some of the apartment complexes near the intersection of Germantown Parkway and Wolf River Blvd. There are many apartments there and they are safe b/c they are in Germantown.

Oh I see.
Sounds great! I will check out GParkway and Wolf River--thanks so much!

Uptown Memphis - About Us

what is this all about? any thoughts? more of a planned community?

No to Uptown. If you want something very safe, Uptown is a step in the wrong direction. To compare Germantown and Uptown.... not a comparison

Things on the island area very safe though. It's near downtown/Uptown, but across a large bridge and so the riff raff stays away. it's a very yuppie area. There are some very expensive apts on the island (can't tell you the names tho).

i am currently living in the Vineyard apartments in Germantown, on Wolf River between Kirby and Riverdale. I am there as a temporary corporate relo, but i'd guess they also do regular apt rentals. It's very nice.

If you want suburbs, don't rule out north Mississippi. Sometimes it is closer to a workplace in Memphis than commuting from Germantown or Collierville.
