I am moving to memphis and would like opinions regarding renting a home the this area....specifically off of north getwell road near the sonic

Not a good area. But there are nicer areas not too far away. The safer areas are North of Rhodes/Quince and East of Perkins.

Yea, that's a bad area. Don't do it. Smtchll said it. There are safer areas near this location. And I don't think that is considered East Memphis.

Used to be east
Memphis 10 years ago, but you will find plenty of apts farther out that are safer and nicer, IMO. I would stay away from anything that says Getwell these days. Go east, young man!

I live closer towards Cherry/Quince- basically a block away and the neighborhood is so much different the farther away from Getwell you get. Right off getwell, the houses look run down and looks rough. Keep going straight (towards perkins) Everything gets so much nicer.

this area-....specifically off of north getwell road near the sonic- I live in this neighborhood, and it is very nice. This area is often quite and never on the news GOOD or BAD. Go ahead and google crime area, notate area code 38117 and see for yourself. However, we are surrounding by news noting neighborhoods such as Parkway villiage, Hickory Hill and area surrounding Sheffield Elelmentary School is ver rough.
