We're heading to Jackson this weekend for an audition, but have some extra time to spend exploring. What would you suggest? Any historic sites, museums, shopping, restaurants?

Go to the Casey Jones Village. It's pretty neat. They have a restaurant/buffet and also have a store inside. They also have some more speciality shops that are next door. Haven't been in years though. We used to eat there all the time when we drove up to Clarksville to see my grandmother. It's pretty popular for folks who drive on I-40 from Memphis to Nashville.

Thanks, what a nice city, very nice people. We skipped Casey Jones because when you mentioned it, I remembered we had spent several hours there on our way through to move here two years ago. But you're right, it would be a great place for a visit! And Guitarist, thanks for the tip on the columns, we found some very unique shops in that area, I think boosted the local economy a bit ;-)

There are some bands that play at a place called Main Street Live which isn't bad.

try out the comedy club. it is pretty good, and they have some recognizable talent. if you like history, the ancient pinson mounds are interesting. shopping is going to be basically what you would find in any other metro of 100,000+. big box retail, etc., etc.
