My family and I are considering moving to Tennessee soon and I came across an article somewhere that talked about Shelby county splitting into two seperate counties if they tried to annex certain suburbs. We have looked at all the Metro area suburbs and like Germantown from what we have read. What advice does anyone have about the proposed split? We don't want to move somewhere that is going to go down hill because a bigger city is greedy or broke and cause the educational system and neighborhoods to become intolerable.

Neshoba county was nothing more than a pipe dream. It won't happen. I don't believe it can happen legally...

Joe is right on the money. Can't happen. You must have come across some info from the early 1990s when that was a hot topic. The State Legislature killed the secessionists' dreams with the quickness.

Any chance of the merging of Germantown into the city limits?

Nope. Germantown is its own sovereign city that can never be annexed by Memphis.

They're correct, it's not going to happen, you'll be fine in Germantown, it's a nice, upscale community, and the schools will continue to be good quality, supported by involved parents. Enjoy your search, and let us know how we can help.
