Because its more diverse, (so sad that people see this as a negative, but they do), and there are a wider range of incomes South of Poplar.

Those are my thoughts exactly, but I didn't want to bring it up. It is what it is.

I would think that ShelbyCop (assuming s/he is a Shelby cop), is a pretty reliable source for which is the better/safer area.

All these posts and we are skirting the real perception???

South of Poplar is considered other isde of the tracks, has more African Americans living there, has more industrial (business) sites there.

There I said it, don't flame me, just stating the obvious, its not important if its my opinion or not as perception seems to be reality.

Default Thanks

Thank you all for your insight. We will be in Collierville in a few weeks looking for homes. I plan on having our agent show us all homes that fit our criteria no matter what side. I have always liked the look of the homes in Estanuala Trails, and lord knows my kids could use more diversity in their lives, but my husband is concerned with how long the drive would be to the girls schools. Any idea on time? I will be driving to SBA & St. Francis. We are also really leaning towards Almadale Farms. My husband has looked at a few homes there and likes the neigborhood.

Thanks for all your help

Almadale is a great neighborhood, and would make your commute a lot easier.
