So anyway I have been having terrible trouble these last two weeks. I have always had panic attacks and some depression, but, sort of usually felt in control. My new job just totally through me over the waterfull and spinning out of control. My doctor did give me an RX for Celexa and I did quit my job. I popped a pill a couple of hours ago and I'm well aware that I'm not going to feel and benefits from this drug for weeks, but, could I feels funny...... I swear I feel a little tired and buzzy right now, but, it could also just be my bizarre day.
Your Dr. should have given you a benzo to go with the Celexa. It could possibly increase your anxiety a bit till you get used to it. You need the
benzo in the beginning and as you increase dosages to take the edge off your anxiety. Hope it works well for you! Im on an AD, and its helped my anxiety that surfaced since hormonal/menopause symtoms reared their ugly
heads!

Celexa causes major weight gain. I was prescribed Celexa and refused to take it. It's pretty much the same thing as Paxil, I was on Paxil and it works fantastic but I gained 15 pounds while on it and it was hard to get off. I ended up taking Xanax for awhile instead. I was moving and it was stressful and couldn't be bothered dealing with all the side effects of celexa.
Ok I know this is a contentious issue but...there are natural ways to relieve anxiety and depression, you don't need to get hooked into better living through pharmaceuticals.
Change your lifestyle, do things that make you happy, get some inner peace, yoga, relaxation, exercise....there are countless ways to help these issues.
I am astonished and appalled at the number of Americans taking prescription medication. It's an industry designed to make people dependent and addicted and it's wrong.
Why do people constantly discount depression as not being an illness? Depression is an illness and some people really do need to take medication to get their depression under control. Would you tell a type 1 diabetic to stop taking his insulin?
Managing depression is not as simple as hitting the gym and eating a couple of carrots a day you know. Some severely depressed people lack the motivation or the desire to even get out of bed
If the Dr. prescribed celexa take it.

You ae so right! I don't have depression ( I did when I lived in a horrible state for awhile) But now it's mostly just anxiety. I hate it when people say ohh you need to learn how to relax or just chill. It's not that easy!
When you are in the process of moving to another state, 2 screaming kids under 5, one being hyperactive, stressed out family trying to help, dogs out of control, a cat that keeps running away and trying to hunt him down so your kids stop crying, hypertension that's made 10x worse because of eveything going on and worried about stroking out or having a heart attack. I don't have time to meditate for even 30 minutes. I am lucky if I have 5 minutes alone just to pee on some days.
So yeah I totally get it when someone has severe anxiety and I hate it when people say.. oh you need to learn how to relax. lol

Exactly! I for one am glad for the meds I take for anxiety. It was
debilitating. The OP was asking for advice on those who have taken
Celexa, not for advice to NOT take it. Sheesh.

And there are other things in life than taking drugs. Medications have side effects and can be addictive, they are not a great cure all for people's issues in life.
Anxiety and depression can be organic but there is plenty of evidence suggesting they are situational and other types of therapy can be just as effective.
