Hi Wendy- Sorry I havent been on this thread in awhile- First regarding taking the medication: I put moms seroquel in either applesauce, pudding or icecream- I spoon feed it to her and I make sure that it goes down otherwise she will spit it out, make sure you put meds in the first spoonful and then make sure you get many spoonfuls afterwards down to ensure she is swallowing it- It is important to get your grandma to eat as much as possible, 2 years ago my mom looked at food like poison, (I had her in a home for 9days which destroyed her and I broke her out) they were ready to put a feeding tube in her- I started giving her ensure puddings, ice cream sundaes anything I knew she liked and her appetite came back and she is eating like a horse now she has put back the 30lbs she lost 2yrs ago, If I wouldve listened to the dr's she probably wouldnt be here right now- Be careful because when it comes to meds it is all a crap shoot it is VERY difficult and I feel for you. I do strongly suggest you look up Coach Broyles alzheimer playbook, I found it very helpful. Stay strong, remember to breathe, and keep Humor around your household, Laughing does wonders for all involved.

Do not ask me to remember
Don’t try to make me understand.
Let me rest and know you’re with me.
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.
I’m confused beyond your concept.
I am sad and sick and lost
All I know is that I need you
To be with me at all cost
Do not lose your patience with me.
Do not scold or curse or cry.
I can’t help the way I’m acting,
Can’t be different ’though I try.
Just remember that I need you,
That the best of me is gone.
Please don’t fail to stand beside me,
Love me ’til my life is done.

Jacqueline Marcell has written a book called Elder Rage that tells of her experiences with this and then gives suggestions from what she has learned.
