Why do most young White women still smoke (stop smoking, addict, appetite)

Some starve themselves and you think Gisela is joking? You don't have to understand why they smoke, but Gisela offered some very good points since she is a former smoker and I gave her +1 for it. I've been smoke free for 2 months, and it isn't a guarantee that it will stick but I will 2nd everything Gisela said.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and that includes you but please let's keep this discussion going and not force the mods to shut it down.
I am entitled to my own opinion and I don't have to censor it because it bothers you when people call out smokers on the ridiculous reasons they keep smoking.
Using smoking to stay thin? How about diet and exercise. How about doing something that will keep you thin AND allow you to remain alive????
Gives you something to do with your hands
I have had numerous jobs, been to a number of clubs and bars, and been around the country mostly, and one thing that seizes to amaze me is why is smoking so prevalent among young Caucasian women. I am not singling them out, it is just a turn off to many of my guy friends who would date white women. However more times than not they smoke, are social smokers, or have smoked in the past.
Seriously I work in an environment that is fairly young, and I will tell you all the white women who work with me smoke and they are probably under the age of 30, yet they do not look under the age of 30 more times than not. The women from other ethnic backgrounds do not and they look a whole lot younger. I see this same pattern in almost every new job I have had, class I have taken, or just simply observing.
Why is it like that? I know there are women of all races who smoke, but I think for the younger generation they would catch on and understand why smoking is bad, and understand the consequences if they engage in the behavior. Just by observation it appears women from other ethnic groups have gotten the message, yet young Caucasian women have not. Why???
Several statistics on the internet show this is not the case.

No, you don't have to censor your opinions but you do have to follow the TOS. When you don't follow them the mods cut words out of your posts and sometimes close a topic down. I hope that doesn't happen to this topic.

I didn't say anything that I feel is wrong. Some poster made all these IMO ridiculous statements about why smoking is so great and I responded to it.
I'm not sure why the OP asked the question if they aren't going to actually try to understand the answers.
Either the OP
does not have any sense of empathy - i.e. can't put themselves in others shoes
or
they asked the question rhetorically not really wanting an answer?
because in the OPs response in negating some of the reasons like "why not just exercise" they are saying "why not be other than human" because humans overeat, gamble, smoke, don't exericise, beat their spouses - all of which can be responsed to "why don't they just not" uh...because we are flawed? because we meet stressors with certain behaviors?
Maybe the OP is a superhuman with no flaws. Or an alien? Secretly trying to understand the human race on City Data Forum
I think it is because some can't accept that others make bad choices especially when all the choices they make are right. I'm sorry but everyone has some failure from norm that they regret. And many smokers regret that they ever started but are unable to kick the chemicals that trick their brain into thinking they need cigarettes. If you are going to smoke at least check into safer e-cigarettes. Very unlike smoking but has allowed many to kick the habit; including me.
They smoke because they want to. What's wrong with that? If you don't want to date them, fine. Just try to avoid the judgmentalism.
"What's wrong with that?" Well, greater chance of lung cancer, bladder cancer, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and heart attack, just to name some of the medical issues. Also, it makes one's clothes, dwelling, and car smell bad. Also, it is quite a waste of money. All this is so obvious and well documented by now that it's hard to believe Stillkit is being serious. In light of what I have just listed, how is it possible to avoid "judgmentalism"? Unless one is brain-dead, the conclusion (or "judgment" if you will) which is quite inescapable is that it is incredibly stupid to take up smoking.
Why, then do the young do it? One reason is surely that they know their elders (parents, teachers, and others) have recommended against it. It is in the nature of youth both to rebel and to downplay long-term consequences.
Many surveys and statistics over the years have shown an enormous difference in smoking rates by level of education. I have pondered this and concluded that it is not primarily the greater knowledge of educated people which leads to this result - after all even the least educated among us cannot have avoided knowing that smoking is bad for them - but rather the ability to focus on long term goals (such as getting a college education) and forego immediate gratification.
Basicallyt its why not what you think of the reason really. I mean look at the numbert of obese that is related to herat and stroke eve amoung younger people. Then their is the number of drinking and drug deaths amoung people who make bad choices. My guess is its the same with smoking really.

Awfully smug, aren't you? So very assured of your own superiority that you feel qualified to sit in judgment of what someone else is doing. Well...bully for you.
"What's wrong with that," could as easily be written as "Why shouldn't someone have the right to do whatever the heck they want, including make poor decisions." Or, would you object to phrasing it that way too because for you, the issue isn't what they're doing so much as your right to feel superior to them.
