Hello, I just started taking Lexapro in the last few days and I'm curious to hear of others' experiences. I was prescribed it for anxiety/social anxiety. I've been on it for 4 days now. Day one was rough with lots of side effects, but since then, I haven't noticed any. No changes yet but I didn't expect anything for 2-4 weeks.

Just curious to hear from others who have taken it and what their experience was like. You can PM me if that is better, thanks.

My husband has taken it for a couple of years now. It works well for him, and the only side effects he has had is he becomes intolerable to be around if he forgets to get it filled for a few days.

I've been on it for years now. It helps with depression and anxiety, but I still have it. It doesn't go away. Oh, and it has killed my sex drive completely. When I'm off it my sex drive comes back, but when I'm on it...nada. It's just as well anyway.

i can relate to that. dont be so hard on him!!! the w/d's from lexapro are terrible. i tried to go off of it cold turkey from taking 20mg a day, i wanted to disappear it was so bad. i have managed to get down to 5mg per day. almost there.

LOL, I know how hard it is because I used to take Paxil before switching to Celexa. I don't rag on him about it, but I do try to make sure he gets it filled on time! LOL

I used it for a while for depression. I did not notice any side effects. Besides it kills any sexual desire I would have.
It did not help with my depression so I switched to something different.

It works differently for every person. So you will need to experience it yourself. and be aware that it takes at least a month for you to start noticing a difference.

Doctors usually prescribe it because it has low side effects usually.
So give it a go!

Good luck

i agree that it is helpful. so i really should stay on it. but i dont want to take it for the rest of my life. but it did drastically improve my depression quickly, with limited side effects, other than not being able to stop taking it.

I took it for a while. The main reason I stopped was that it tasted absolutely vile. And when I stopped taking it, I noticed absolutely no change in my behaviour or personality.
