I'm a 45 year old female. I don't take any medication daily. Cholesterol good, BP good, not overweight ( per doctor) for my height.

But I HURT. I'm sore all over or somewhere 8 out of 10 days. I've noticed it for a few years now I'd have a day or so, I'd be so tired I couldn't get up and move, I just hurt, had no energy, ocassionaly I'd miss a day or so of work......but, the last 3 months...I've hurt 6 out of 7 days a week, never in the same place all day, Knees, thighs, lower back, elbows( of all places)...shoulders.

I've been to one doctor, he did a blood test for RA, it came back in the high range of normal...so he prescribed me Ultram. I never had it filled because I don't want to take medication when I don't know whats wrong...the test was normal. So, I don't know where to go or what to do...

I'm sick of hurting, and every day is a struggle to get to work, I'm not depressed, I love my job, and everything is good at home. (newlywed)

Any ideas? Suggestions??

Sorry to hear this...

Time for another medical opinion. Don't stop seeing MDs until someone has a definite diagnosis for you...start with your family MD... if that is who you saw already, ask for a referral elsewhere to help get that diagnosis.

Diagnosis cannot be done over the phone or internet...

BTW: if it were me, I would take the Ultram...it is not particularly strong has few side effects...so you can at least be comfortable now.

If you live in or near a large city, look for an MD at a university-affiliated hospital...they see a wide variety of patients and have a specialist in every field. They also see the oddest/rarest of cases.

Best wishes,

gbh

I would suggest seeing a good rheumatologist.

Maybe Sunshine Vitamine Deficiency? Go out there and try to get a tan. Seriously.

Ultram is highly addictive. The doctors will say it's not, but just look online. I had a friend that took it only for a month and had a really, really hard time getting off it.

Go to other doctors and get second or third opinions. Find out the cause. Pain is not a normal occurrence, it means something is wrong.

I have a tan, a actual sun tan. I love the beach and wear high sunscreen, but I am out enough to I am a nice Olive complexion.

I had a doctors appt yesterday...I've had several..One looked at me like I was mentally unstable. the other did the RA test, gave me the Ultram,....sent me home.

Yesterday...this doctor spent nearly an hour talking to me about my pains, symptoms, concerns. Before I left...he diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia and Arthiritis, Not RA. He gave me Celebrex to try for a couple weeks, enough samples to last for a month...and a sleeping medicine that is liquid, that my pharmacy had to order and my insurance doesn't cover... but it works... thank God.

Anyone take Celebrex?

Sounds like a good chance you could have Fibromyalgia..pain everywhere. I think what happens is it attacks your nerve endings..you might want to look it up. Find a doctor who isn't so quick to toss pain meds at you and is willing to run the tests you need. My sister has fibromyalgia and talks frequently about the same exact pain you have. Not sure what she takes if anything as she is big into Reeki which is kind of a "laying on of hands" healing type thing. Lots of hospitals are using it now.
Good luck with this..not fun being in pain all the time and do check out the symptoms of Fibromyalgia..does sound close to what is going on with you.

But it didn't seem like he gave you any meds to target FM? Standard treatments are Cymbalta, Savella or Lyrica usually in conjunction with muscle relaxants. There is also a whole host of other meds that are considered off label if those don't work.

Yes, I've taken Celebrex. It's pretty lightweight. I also take Lyrica. It does sound like FM. I hope you can get it under control and start having quality of life. Good luck~
