I quit after 45 years with Chantix..Did I enjoy smoking? Yes... Was I addicted? Of course....Do I have emphysema or lung disease after so many years of inhaling? Thank God, No That is why I quit, no sense in pressing my luck..It took me one week with Chantix..Just thinking about a drag into my lungs makes me dizzy and nauseous. Oh to answer one more question..Did I gain weight? 15 big ones!!!

I'm right there with ya, blue62! I've quit with Chantix after 35 years of smoking. I just can't get over Chantix. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I haven't smoked since the beginning of August. I certainly don't plan to ever pick up another cigarette. But, I've gained a lot of weight, I don't know how much and don't think I want to know. Oi.

Still, if I could quit smoking, I can definitely lose this weight, that's how I look at it!

I quit in 1981. Cigarettes weren't (I think) as strong then.

I enjoyed the Hell out of smoking while I was smoking.

I didn't enjoy watching my father try to breath.

I didn't enjoy hacking my guts up every morning.

I didn't enjoy wheezing after a set of stairs.

But I really, really liked smoking. It's an interesting habit (aside from the addiction part).

When you need a moment to think, light a cigarette.

If you are a bit uptight and want a little relief, take a hit or two.

Someone irritate you? Blow some smoke in their face.

There are a lot more ways to quit now. I quit cold turkey. I initially stopped (even got hypnotized) the day before my mother died. Needless to say that didn't work out. I waited 6 months, spending the time psyching myself up and quit.

I found out at lunch it was National Smoke Out Day. Now there's a sign if ever I saw one.

Spent years dreaming about smoking. I'd guess the last time I had one of those dreams was about 2003 or so. I'd be having a cigarette and wake up frustrated because the "buzz" wasn't there.

After 26 years I can tell you: Quitting cigarettes is easier than losing weight.

Don't let it get away from you.
